A Data Asset Inventory (DAI) captures information about your Data Assets. It's important to remember that your inventory helps you:

• Define the contents, source, processing information, use of data and other information your business uses.

• Determine the value of your data.

• How to utilize that data as a strategic asset.

• Understand the potential security exposure from a privacy risk aspect.

• Data inventory, structured, semi-structured, and unstructured, is divided into three types:

  • Technical

  • Business and Compliance

  • Governance
